Whether your child is a first-time performer or a seasoned speaker, there’s something new and wonderful waiting for them this year. Here’s your first look at what’s new for the 10th Anniversary LCM Speech Festival.
The festival will be held over three days, from 23 to 25 May 2026. It’s the perfect opportunity for young performers to shine on stage .
If you have a little one who’s been waiting for their turn, the age requirement is simple: any child who will be aged 3 or above by 25 May 2026 is eligible to participate !
To celebrate this incredible milestone, the organisers have introduced several brand-new categories to make the festival more inclusive and challenging than ever before. Here are the highlights:
While the youngest participants (aged 3) have always had a place in the festival, the 2026 event will now feature a dedicated Nursery Rhyme category for the 4-year-old age group . This is a fantastic, gentle introduction to the world of performance for our littlest stars, allowing them to build confidence with simple, fun rhymes.
Older primary school children now have a new platform to showcase their advanced skills. A Verse Speaking category has been added for the 11-12 age group . This allows pre-teens to delve into more complex and emotionally resonant poetry, honing their interpretative skills.
This is a landmark addition for the festival. For the very first time, the Public Speaking category will include a Secondary School section . This is a major step forward, providing a vital and exciting platform for teenagers to develop and demonstrate their ability to formulate ideas, argue persuasively, and speak with confidence. It’s a skill that will benefit them immensely in their academic and professional futures.
